Despite recent improvements in the share of women in leadership, according to UN Women reports, the pandemic has undone much of that progress by 50%— with women now leaving the workforce at much higher rates than men and women’s participation in the labor force dropping to its lowest level in the last decades.

And while there’s no one formula for being an effective leader, it’s a little more complicated when it comes to women in leadership. Systemic inequities, intersecting identities, and biases (both conscious and unconscious) place disproportionate burdens on women.

That’s why it’s critical that organizations make intentional efforts to invest in retention and support of talented women talent and leaders.


At Flow Coaching Institute, starting with a women founder and our CEO, we’ve been advocating women’s leadership development since the beginning — with some of the qualitative and quantitative research on women talent, breaking the glass ceiling, to our pioneering coaching and mentoring program for female leadership, to today’s women leadership empowerment programs in industries such as stem, government, or others for building greater equity, diversity, and inclusion.
